79 years ago, on 8 December 1944, the very first Film Review landed at all UK bookshops and bookstalls. Printed in four colours on art paper, the initial volume fulfilled a long-held dream for founder F. Maurice Speed. As the world's longest running film annual, Film Review published 70 volumes between 1944 and 2015 before moving digital to continue the annual format online. As our 80th Anniversary approaches in 2024, Film Review announces the launch of official merchandise to celebrate the occasion, now available in the shop.
