Winners Announced: The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards presented its coveted actor statuettes at the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, held 24 February at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The ceremony, produced by Silent House Productions in partnership with SAG-AFTRA, streamed live globally on Netflix. One of awards season’s premier events, the SAG Awards annually celebrates the outstanding motion picture and television performances from the previous calendar year. Of the top industry honours presented to actors, only the SAG Awards are selected entirely by performers’ peers in SAG-AFTRA with 119,000+ eligible voters — the largest voting body on the awards circuit. The two nominating panels — one for television and one for motion picture — were each composed of 2,500 randomly selected SAG-AFTRA members from across the United States. Beloved for its style, simplicity, and genuine warmth, the show has become an industry favourite since its debut in 1995.
The 30th anniversary of the SAG Awards featured a star-studded lineup of presenters including two-time SAG award winner Idris Elba who opened the ceremony. The legendary actor, singer, producer, writer, and director Barbra Streisand was honoured with the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments. The award was presented to her by Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper. Additional show presenters include SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, Sterling K. Brown, Michael Cera, Jessica Chastain, Colman Domingo, Robert Downey Jr., America Ferrera, Brendan Fraser, Anne Hathaway, Taraji P. Henson, Troy Kotsur, Greta Lee, Melissa McCarthy, Cillian Murphy, Glen Powell, Issa Rae, Storm Reid, Margot Robbie, Tracee Ellis Ross, Meryl Streep, Naomi Watts, Jeffrey Wright and more.
